The High Kirk Dunoon
Development Project for Conversion into a community facility
The High Kirk Project Group has been working to safeguard the future of Dunoon High Kirk and secure its role within the town. The Kirk is uniquely placed to provide a ‘one stop’ shop for pastoral and social support, health and well-being for its communities.
The group’s aim is to acquire, refurbish and convert the building to:
provide a vibrant and vital building with young people and the community at its heart;
be a catalyst for positive change; and support the elderly and vulnerable through health, welfare and mental health opportunities. To secure funding for its renovation, conversion and operating costs, a newly created SCIO is to be established. At this stage in our planning we want to bring in new skills and experience, and are looking for three Trustees to help guide us through the next stage of our development.
The Board will meet formally once a month and the Trustees are also asked to join one of the sub-groups which will oversee specific streams of activity. The roles are not remunerated.
Ideally, we would like applicants to have the following attributes:
- ability to work with a wide range of people
- experience of serving on a Board or sub-committee in either a profit or non-profit organisation
- ability to think through complex issues with clarity
- genuine enthusiasm for the aims of Project Group
- some connection with Cowal and / or Dunoon.
If you are interested in joining us, please send us brief details of your experience and interest in the High Kirk Project, and what you feel you might be able to bring to the Project.
